Meet A Woman Who Moves Powerfully: Tonya! 💜

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

HEY THERE & WELCOME!

Meet Peer Partner, Executive Pastor, Co-Founder & First Lady of Enlightened Ministry Biker Church from Los Angeles, CA, La Tonya "Tonya"!

Tonya is a supporter of the Women Move Powerfully Movement ✝ and recently shared what Women Moving Powerfully means to her:

Women Moving Powerfully to me means selflessness. That is, women who are giving of their time, resources, and selves to help others. For me, this proves to be a powerful movement, because the definition of love is putting the concerns of others before your own, which involves great strength.

When asked, "How do you Move Powerfully?" Tonya shared:

I move powerfully day to day, first by instilling in my children, the importance of consideration for others. Also, by effecting change in the community, I move powerfully. By providing support to others, this allows them to feel confidence in themselves to ensure they make positive changes.

How are you connected to The WMP MOVEMENT? What do you think about WMP?

I am connected to The WMP Movement through its Founder, La Trisha Boothe. I believe La Trisha and the work she's doing through The WMP Movement [is] needed for this community. Homelessness is a very serious issue in our community. By bringing awareness to it and taking the initiative to do something about it, The WMP Movement prompts others to move themselves out of the way and spring into action for others.

What are your thoughts on the growing homeless population in and around Los Angeles? Tonya stated:

I was just having a conversation with my husband [Pastor Nate, Enlightened Ministry Biker Church] about the growth of homeless in Los Angeles. There was a time when the homeless population/community was confined to downtown Los Angeles, so it was “out of view” and “swept under the rug,” so to speak. However, in recent years, you see homeless encampments near and within residential areas, and more “in your face”. Due to this, we are now forced to deal with it as individuals, and as a community at large.

When asked if she would like to share any Final thoughts and words of encouragement - Tonya said:

One of my favorite quotes is “be the change you want to see.” In other words, if you want to see change in your personal life or the community as a whole, don’t wait on others to make the change. Become the change yourself and you will see change in your situation, whether personal or public.

La Tonya "Tonya" works and Moves Powerfully as a Peer Partner, "linking clients to resources that they may never know about or know how to access, such as mental health and housing" with Stars Behavioral Health Group. Tonya also helps her clients "in becoming self-sufficient, empowering them to gain the knowledge and skills they need to seek the resources for themselves."

When not working as a Peer Partner, Tonya can be found assisting her husband and Pastor, Nate, with their church, Enlightened Ministry Biker Church.

Tonya serve as Executive Pastor, and both she and husband (Nate) minister to individuals in the biker community. Both Tonya and Pastor Nate "encourage people to develop their own personal relationship with God".

Pastor Nate and Tonya empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives.

Women Move Powerfully appreciates your contributions to this Movement and in both your respective roles as Peer Partner & Executive Pastor!

THANK YOU for helping the community and sharing the gospel of JESUS CHRIST!
