HEY THERE & WELCOME!
Meet Alabama State University Alum, Newlywed, Mother and Community Innovator; Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Markia!
Markia's Introduction:
Hi Beautiful Women! My name is Markia Green and I am just like you. I am a woman with a past who was lost and now Iām found. Iām a newlywed, a mother, a sister, friend... I recently had a baby girl 3months ago and I am currently a stay-at-home mom. My life has completely changed. A little over a year ago I was single and living in my one-bedroom apartment in Atlanta, Georgia. I met my husband in Montgomery, Alabama which is where I currently reside. Iām originally from Jacksonville, Florida; aka Duuuuuuvaaaaaal, which is where I was born and raised! Even though I no longer live there, I still rep my city.
Markia is a supporter of the Women Move Powerfully Movement ā and recently shared what Women Moving Powerfully means to her:
Women Moving Powerfully speaks for itself; I mean itās in the name. Itās a movement, itās powerful! To me it means new opportunities for God to use women to uplift, encourage, speak life, and intercede for women in need. We are fearfully and wonderfully made and WMP reminds us of that. The bible says in Matthew 18:20 āfor where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them;ā and I imagine what can be accomplished and how many lives can be changed when we come together.
When asked, "How do you Move Powerfully?" Markia replied:
I really [have] to pause and ponder upon it. I never really considered even asking myself that question. When I think about a powerful woman, I think about her influence over others, I think about her grace and the way she carries herself. On a day-to-day basis I do my best to lead by example. I have daily affirmations that I like to recite in the mornings to remind myself whose I am and who I am. I must get my mental right before I start my day. Iāve recently even started purposely going on social media and sending instant messages to different women encouraging them by telling them how beautiful they are and that they are doing a great job being a mom, a teacher, a nurse, or whatever it is they do.
Markia was asked, "What have you overcome in your life, that when you think back, has helped you to NOW Move Powerfully?":
In the past few years, I have overcome fear, anxiety, low self-esteem, shame, worry and doubt. Fear of what tomorrow might bring, anxiety from believing the lies of the enemy and low self-esteem from the feeling of not being enough. [I was] ashamed of my past... worried about everything and doubting my God... but I have overcome those things. I am still a work in progress.
"What are your thoughts on the homelessness and the growing homeless population in and around Los Angeles, CA?"
Iāve always had a heart for homeless people. I remember the very first time I went to a homeless shelter to volunteer when I was a little girl and my heart shattered when I saw a mother and her children there. My husband is on the City Council Board for the City of Montgomery and we both have hearts for the homeless. We are [currently] formulating a program with the city system [and trying to see] how we can build homes for the homeless, help them establish credit and get back on their feet. I imagine the rate [of those who are homeless being] extremely high, considering Los Angeles is a big city. The growing homeless population in and around Los Angeles is a tremendous problem that wonāt be solved over night but with the right people, officials and money, of course, can be solved.
"How are you connected to THE MOVEMENT and what do you think about WMP?"
I am connected to the WMP movement through a friend/spiritual sister who happens to be the Founder of The Movement. I believe [this] Movement is such a blessing and God couldnāt have ordained a more perfect woman who is passionate, has the biggest heart and loves Godās people.
Markia shares a laugh and encourages Us all to Be Thankful:
My husband told me a couple of weeks ago I look mean when I wake up in the morning. He said Torah, (which is our little girl) smiles when she wakes up. If my three-month-old can have joy, why canāt I? Now when I wake up, the first thing I do is smile and thank God for allowing me to see another day and for protecting my family throughout the night. Just that small adjustment to my morning routine, gave me a completely different perspective on life. So many people did not wake up this morning and I must remind myself how blessed I really am.
Final words - Markia shared:
Anything can be accomplished with the right people and resources, but first it starts with a pure heart and positive mindset. You can do anything that God calls you to do because He placed it in your heart. Therefore, He will equip to do so. Woman you are powerful beyond measure. You can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth you! Philippians 4:13 said it and I just agree. Receive that and watch what God does in your life through you to help someone else. Stay encouraged, hopeful and have faith! Love, Kia
